Andre Foods International (AFI) is a registered National Non-Governmental Organization (NNGO) in Uganda, playing a pivotal role in supporting refugees and vulnerable communities. AFI focuses on a multi-faceted approach to address food insecurity, malnutrition, health, WASH, environment, gender protection, and research. The organization has established partnerships with the government, industrialists, and local communities and has engaged in humanitarian efforts for international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and UN agencies

Nutrition

In collaboration with esteemed partners, the World Food Program (WFP) and the Government of Uganda (GoU), AFI spearheads a holistic MAM intervention. Through our dedicated efforts, we strive to significantly reduce the prevalence and severity of Moderate Acute Malnutrition among the most vulnerable members of our society. Children under five, pregnant and lactating women, and other at-risk groups deserve a future filled with promise and good health.

Livelihood

Our innovative initiatives focus on asset creation and livelihood activities, including apiary, aquaculture, orange fresh sweet potatoes farming, and various other projects. These endeavors are carefully designed to not only improve food security but also uplift the economic prospects of the communities we serve..Together, we can create lasting change. Healthy Food Access

In partnership with World Food Program and Government of Uganda, We are implementing emergency response activities such as Lean Season Response and General Food Assistance in the vulnerable communities of the refugee camps and the Karamoja region of Uganda. These activities aim to provide food security and nutrition support to the people affected by conflict, drought and COVID-19 pandemic. Andre Foods International is committed to delivering quality and timely assistance to the most in need, in line with the humanitarian principles and standards.

AFI supports this by distributing rabbits and guinea pigs to farmer groups and individuals, aiming to diversify diets and boost livelihoods. We also conduct training seesions that included animal care basics for the participating communities.

Empowering communities with Orange-Fleshed Sweet Potato (OFSP) production and vine multiplication. We provide OFSP vines, train model farmers with technical assistance, and establish multiplication centers for sustainable vine production. We train and support community groups to make and promote the use and making of liquid soap liquid soap, both at the household level and for sale, to generate income to enable access to some essential household items like food.

Our programs include general food assistance, treatment and prevention of malnutrition, and agricultural training. By teaching sustainable farming practices, we enable refugees to grow their own food, fostering self-sufficiency and food security.

We have had a transformative journey undertaken by our organization in providing food assistance to refugees and implementing supplementary feeding programs for malnourished pregnant women and children. Amidst global uncertainties, our organization stands as a beacon of hope, dedicated to making a lasting difference in the lives of those in need. With a dedicated team and unwavering support from partners and donors, we have delivered essential food assistance to refugees affected by conflict and disaster. The power of a nutritious meal has not only provided sustenance but also instilled hope and dignity. Our supplementary feeding program has particularly influenced the lives of malnourished pregnant women and children, investing in their future to break the cycle of intergenerational malnutrition.

While our initiatives have reached thousands of beneficiaries, our commitment to expanding reach, deepening impact, and ensuring program sustainability remains steadfast. The generous support of our donors and partners has been instrumental in our success, bringing hope, nourishment, and a brighter future to those who have faced unimaginable hardships.
