Provision of Consultancy Services for Product Development of a Bio-Fortified Cassava-Based Product

Andre Foods International (AFI) invites qualified and experienced consultants or firms to express their interest in providing consultancy services for the development of a nutritious, bio-fortified product derived from cassava.

Background

AFI is a local non-governmental organization committed to improving food and nutrition security among vulnerable communities in Uganda. As part of our innovation and nutrition-sensitive programming, we seek technical expertise to develop a market-ready cassava-based product enriched with key nutrients.

Scope of Work

• Acquiring relevant food samples for the product.
• Product prototype development.
• Conduct acceptability test for the product.
• Develop and test at least one bio-fortified cassava-based product.
• Conducting laboratory analysis for the developed product.
• Packaging and branding of product for community testing.
• Undertake the necessary processes for product certification by UNBS.

Deliverables

• Sample of the product prototype developed in suggested packaging ad branding.
• Laboratory results
• Report of acceptability test
• UNBS certification

Eligibility Criteria

• Holds a university degree in one of the following fields. Food science Nutrition health, nutrition epidemiolow, product development. Master’s degree will carry an added advantage
• Proven expertise in food science, nutrition, and product development.
• Prior experience working with cassava or other bio-fortified crops.
• Track record of working with NGOs or in community-based development projects.
• Familiarity with context specific challenges in Katakwi
• Capacity to deliver within the agreed timelines.
